If you were the lead vocalist for a Jazz band that was in high demand for bookings all around one of the biggest states in the union, you would be justified in considering yourself a high achiever. If in addition to that your voice had won you comparisons with Jessica Rabbit from the popular movie “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” then you could reasonably get a little bit of a big head. If it then turned out that you were an art car innovator of some note, then people would have to start hating you slightly. Not that Tré Taylor seems to be the subject of anything worse than major admiration right now.

Do you like cocktails? Most of us do, even the guys who won’t admit it. What about a cocktail lounge on wheels in the back of a VW camper van? With a functioning wet bar? That has to be the closest thing to heaven that any art car artist has developed so far. In addition to her extremely smart Candle Car, which formed part of the art car caravan for the Tom Kennedy Memorial, Tré has now unveiled Squirly Whirly, the fan-covered vehicular home of Larry the Squirrel, which grabbed many of the headlines at the San Mateo Maker Faire in May. It’s still impossible to hate Tré Taylor, but there’s every reason to envy her talent.
