The Art Of The Car
3 Sep
Harrod Blank’s impact on the world of art cars needs no discussion, save to say that he is without doubt the most active and prominent mover in the whole movement. In addition to his three films, his own art cars and his other activities in the medium, it should probably come as no surprise to anyone that he is now building a museum for art cars. The museum, being built in Douglas, AZ, will be called Art Car World and it is hoped that it will open doors towards the end of 2010 – though work will still be required on some of the interior.
Being Harrod Blank, he has decided that it is better to do it right than to do it fast, and this has informed the building process. The only problem may be that people want it open sooner – but there is an option to view the exhibits by personal appointment – although this option may be best left for the moment as Harrod himself is on the road exhibiting his latest film, Automorphosis.
It is possible for the public to make donations to Art Car World via the website www.artcarwold.org , where you can also find a lot of information on how the building is going so far, and other details by way of the blog which is being maintained by Harrod himself. The museum has already been the subject of a front page story on msn.com, so there is going to be interest in it when it opens. Keep an eye out for it.
