It is widely accepted that Harrod Blank is the father of the Art Car movement, and this is borne out by a number of facts. He has created some of the most prominent examples of the medium, with his Camera Van being among the first and finest features of the modern Art Car movement. He has organised and helped to curate Art Car festivals including taking a leading role in the San Francisco Bay Area Art Car Fest, and is currently working on an Art Car museum and learning center in Arizona, going by the name of Art car World. Simply put, he has a role to play in every element of the movement.

Harrod Blank is currently touring America showing his latest Art Car film Automorphosis, and bringing with him some of the many art cars he has either created or has taken donation of or bought for his museum. The film features the stories of many of the most loved Art Cars and took him thirteen years to make. It has been received excellently, however, and given that the thirteen years it took were not filled entirely with filming and editing – after all, it’s busy work being the godfather of the Art Car – it is a film that holds together brilliantly and gives a real insight into the creative process that goes into creating Art Cars. It is a document that will be well received wherever it is shown, and yet another string to the bow of the talented Mr Blank.
