The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is considered the highest arena for the car artist, certainly in the English speaking world and by many further afield. The longer it goes on, the greater its prestige becomes, and this year the event notched up its 59th event. As a result, next year will be an important birthday for the Pebble Beach Concours, and potentially also for the Automotive Fine Arts Society, which this year exhibited for the 24th time at the event. This time next year – on the 15th of August, to be precise – the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance will be 60, and its association with the AFAS will turn 25.

This year’s event saw what AFAS president Ken Eberts judged to be possibly the group’s strongest exhibit at the Pebble Beach venue so far. With more members than ever before exhibiting at the event and more original pieces being unveiled, the Concours itself celebrated Bugatti and Bentley, Morgan and Audi (which were both celebrating their 100th anniversaries, and the designs of Zagato. Unsurprisingly, an AFAS artist, Barry Rowe, was called upon to provide the official poster for the event. Although they are independent of one another, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and the Automotive Fine Arts Society really do go well together.
